How to Add Favicon in Blogger

Favicon is a small icon displayed at the beginning of the address bar of the browser and tab. It is also called Favorite Icon, Pageicon and urlicon. Favicon is .ico image file. By adding favicon to a blog/website, it amplifies brand image. Without favicon a blog/website looks like unprofessional. On Blogger platform you can add a favicon very easily for your blog. Ok, let’s add a favicon.

Make an Icon
Favicon is a 16x16 size icon. Download this software to make an icon. I have used this software to make this blog’s icon. Here you can create a new icon or you can import a JPG/BMP/PNG file and save them as an icon image. But remind it when you import a JPG/BMP/PNG file it should be 16x16 sizes.

Upload the Icon
Now you have created your icon. It is time to upload it to a server so that you get a web link for your icon. You can upload your icon to a photo sharing website or upload to your own server. Upload your icon on those server which supports .ico extension. 
Flickr doesn’t support .ico file. So you have to try any other service. You can upload icon on Iconj.com. I have uploaded my icon here. It is free and simple. After uploading the icon they will give you your icon’s url. Save it to a txt file. 

Add Favicon in Blogger
Log in to your Blogger account. Go to Layout > Edit HTML and find the following line:

Now add the following line:
<link href='Your Icon URL' rel='shortcut icon'/>
Remove the red text and add your icon’s url. Save your template. Now you are done.

Go to your Blog and see that the favicon is appeared on your browser.
