How to Secure your Computer
Your computer is valuable to you. It is more valuable to them who run a computer based business. Like web hosting, cloud computing, etc. However, they engage employers to look after of security of computer. Nevertheless, people who operate their computer for individual use get into problems when their computer attacked by the hacker, virus or a human, etc. I give security my computer in a manual way. Today I am sharing it with you.
Backup your file/folder
Most of the users don’t heed about backup their file/folder. If you don’t create a backup file you may lose it when your computer gets attacked by a virus. You can backup your file on your phone’s memory stick, portable HDD or on the internet. There are various web services that let you keep your own file/folder on their server. Such a service is Adrive.com. Presently I know only about this service, which will give you 50GB space for free.
Keep your Computer password protected
Password is commonly used in an e-mail account or any web account. You can create a password for your personal computer so that other people can’t access to your computer. It is a great point to safe your notebook or desktop from children. Many people create a bios password. However, it may be harmful whether you lose the password. I recommend creating a windows password.
Install anti virus
Certainly, you know about computer virus. It damages computer and essential data. You should install anti virus to prevent attack by the virus. There are numerous great anti viruses on the market. Grab one and install it. If you need a free anti virus, I suggest you Avast. I use it and I am very like it. Download it for free from here Avast. Avast scans the computer in a great way. After installing it ask you to restart. If you accept to restart, it begins scanning after restart automatically before windows run.
Don’t forget to update the anti virus.
Check portable memory before using it
Portable memory like portable HDD, pen drive, memory stick is highly used for data transferring. If you use your portable memory to another computer, scan it before the virus enters in your computer. Don’t open the portable memory before scan it.
Create a folder for shared documents
Whether you networked your computer to other PCs via LAN (local area network), create a different share folder. Put your all sharing folders and files into it. Give permission to access only for that shared folder.
Windows Firewall protects your computer
Windows firewall is a security service from Windows. It helps you to protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. If any program on your computer tries to connect to the Internet or try to install any program, Windows Firewall prevents them. Nevertheless, you have to ON Firewall.
That’s all. Hope your computer will be saved.
